The man who died following a fatal collision on Shetland has been named as Victor James Duncan, 51, from the local area.

Around 10pm on Saturday, 21 March, 2026, police were called to a crash involving a black Ford Ranger and a cyclist on the B9074, Trondra.

Emergency services attended and the cyclist, Mr Duncan, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His family has paid tribute to a loving husband and father. They request their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

The road was closed to allow for crash investigation to be carried out and fully reopened around 5.15pm on Sunday, 22 March.

Sergeant Ewan Calder said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Duncan and we continue to offer support to them.

“I’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while enquiries were carried out. We appreciate this is the main route to and from the south west of the island and there was significant disruption with the closure.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and I’d ask anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, to come forward.”
