Man charged in connection with the death of a woman in Glasgow

A 49-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of Joanne Newlands in Glasgow.

Around 8pm on Tuesday, 17 March, 2026, officers were called to a property in Kirkton Avenue after a report was received of concern for a 41-year-old woman. Emergency services attended, however she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was arrested on Wednesday, 18 March, 2026, and has now been charged.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 25 March, 2026.
