A 26-year-old man has been convicted following a fatal crash in Aberdeenshire in 2022.

Josh Buchan pled guilty to causing the death of his 19-year-old passenger by dangerous driving at the High Court in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 10 March, 2026.

Around 12.40am on Sunday, 25 September, 2022, Buchan was driving a black Audi RS3 at speeds of up to 108mph when he lost control.

Ben Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, driver Buchan and another passenger suffered minor injuries.

Buchan also pled guilty to a separate charge of culpable and reckless conduct relating to him driving at 124mph on an earlier date.

Sergeant Lesley Morrison, Roads Policing, said: "Our thoughts remain with Ben’s family, and we hope they can find some comfort following this conviction.

"Buchan’s actions displayed an utter disregard for other road users and his passengers and he will now face the consequences. His actions highlight the devastating impact dangerous driving can have on lives and families.

"We remain committed to investigating all dangerous driving and will use all the tools at our disposal to hold those responsible accountable for their actions."
