Break-in and attempted break-in in Livingston

Detectives are appealing for information following a break-in and attempted break-in at two properties in Livingston on Friday, 13 March, 2026.

The attempted break-in occurred between 7.30pm and 8pm, when a male tried to force a window open to gain access to a house in Haymarket Crescent.

The second incident occurred around 8pm on Howatston Court. Two males broke into the house and stole items of jewellery.

Officers believe the incidents are linked and carried out by the same individuals.

The first male is described as white, with a slim build, wearing khaki-coloured trousers, a dark-coloured jacket, a beanie hat, trainers and carrying a dark-coloured rucksack.

The second man is described as white, with a slim build, wearing a light grey tracksuit with a black stripe down both sides of the trousers and dark-coloured trainers.

Enquiries have established that a dark-coloured vehicle was seen in the area at the time of the incidents.

Detective Constable Natalie Civil said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area who may have seen something to get in touch with us. I’d also ask anyone with dash-cam or doorbell recording equipment to check the footage as it could assist in our ongoing investigation.”
