Appeal for information following wilful fire to cars in Rothienorman
Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire in Rothienorman.
The incident happened around 2.50pm on Saturday, 28 February, 2026, in the Jackstown Cottages area, where several cars were deliberately set on fire.
As a result, extensive damage was caused to the vehicles, as well as some nearby outbuildings and their contents.
Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. There were no reported injuries.
Detective Constable Chris Henderson said: “This was a reckless act and our enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and noticed anything suspicious to please contact us.
“In addition, anyone who has private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch with police as this may be able to assist our investigation.”
