Appeal for information following fatal crash on A96 near Huntly

Officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A96 near Huntly.

The crash happened around 6pm on Sunday, 8 March, 2026, at the junction with the A920. Two vehicles, a grey Peugeot 208 and a blue Volkswagen Passat, were involved.

A 53-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to non-serious injuries.

The road was closed for around 10 hours.

Sergeant Dave Cooper from Elgin Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our enquiries to come forward.”
