Appeal for information following attempted robbery at supermarket in Glasgow

Detectives in Glasgow are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a supermarket.

The incident happened around 3.30am on Wednesday, 25 March, 2026, in the Westmuir Street area.

A man entered the store and demanded money from the till before discharging a BB gun at a member of staff. There were no serious injuries.

Nothing was stolen from the supermarket and the suspect made off from the area, heading east along Westmuir Street near its junction with Sorby Street.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 7 in height and of slim build. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a face covering, a black hoody and black trousers.

Detective Sergeant Peter Chatham said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this incident and tracing the person responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and witnessed what happened to please contact us.

“In addition, we are asking members of the public to check CCTV and dash-cam footage as this may hold something relevant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 2976 of 25 March, 2026.
