Appeal following wilful fire-raising in Ayr

Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising in Ayr.

The incident took place between 8.15pm and 8.20pm on Friday, 20 March, 2026 on Lochside Road, when a grey Peugeot 2008 car was set on fire.

There were no reported injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, of medium build, around 5ft 10ins, with a scruffy grey beard or stubble.

He was wearing dark clothing, a padded jacket with horizontal stitching, and had his hood up.

Detective Constable McCrindle from Ayr CID said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed something to get in touch.

“Similarly, any local residents with private CCTV or doorbell footage, or any drivers with dash-cam footage, should contact us as you may have captured something of significance.”
