Appeal following serious crash on A9 near Dalwhinnie

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A9 between Dalwhinnie and Newtonmore.

Around 2.50pm on Friday, 27 March, 2026, officers were called to a report of crash involving a white Toyota Hilux, a blue Seat Ibiza, a black BMW 3 Series M Sport and a blue Volvo XC60.

Emergency services attended and the 24-year-old male driver of the Seat Ibiza was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. The passenger of the vehicle, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

The driver of the BMW, a 51-year-old man, and the passenger, a 42-year-old man, were also taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for almost six hours to allow for investigations to be carried out.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing.

Sergeant Chris Donaldson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed the crash, or who was travelling in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, to contact us as this could assist with our investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 1930 of Friday, 27 March, 2026."
