Appeal following a serious assault in Cumbernauld

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in Cumbernauld.


The incident happened around 3.45pm on Sunday, 8 March, 2026, when a 24-year-old man was seriously assaulted within a premises on Balloch Road. He was taken to hospital for treatment.


The suspect is described as a white man, of stocky build, around 5ft 8ins tall with short dark hair. At the time he was wearing a black long sleeve top, dark tracksuit bottoms and grey trainers.  


Detective Constable Glenn Colletta said: “The victim of this assault sustained serious injuries and was understandably left shaken up.


“We know that the premises was busy at the time of the assault and would ask that anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, come forward and speak with officers.”
