Alexander Hamill sentenced to 16 years for non-recent sexual and violence offences
A 68-year-old man has been jailed for 16 years after being convicted of non-recent sexual and violence offences.
Alexander Hamill was jailed at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 4 March, 2026, for the offences including rape, lewd and libidinous practices, and assault.
He carried out the offending on two boys and two girls between 1993 and 1999, in the Glasgow, West Lothian and Swansea areas.
He was reported to police in January 2022 and an investigation was launched. He was arrested in June 2023 and convicted at Glasgow High Court on Tuesday, 3 February, 2026.
Detective Chief Inspector Darren Munogee said: “Alexander Hamil is a callous predator and he is now being held accountable for his depraved actions.
"Had it not been for the strength of his victims, his crimes may have gone unpunished. I hope that knowing he is now behind bars will offer them some sort of solace.
“This was an extremely challenging investigation, and I would like to thank all of the officers involved, including colleagues in South Wales Police.
"This case also highlights how time is no barrier for us when investigating sexual crimes. If you have ever been subjected to any such offences, then please come forward and report it. You can be assured of being fully supported by specialist officers and our partner agencies."
Anyone with concerns about abuse is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, or in an emergency, always dial 999. Reports can also be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
