Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious crash in Airdrie.

Around 9pm on Monday, 9 February, 2026, police were called to a report of a crash involving a cyclist and a white van on the A89 Weavers Road, near Gartlea roundabout.

The cyclist, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The van did not stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver.

"I would also ask anyone who was travelling on the A89 around the time of the incident and may have seen the van, or who has any relevant CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage, to check it and contact us as it could help our enquiries."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 3132 of 9 February.
