Man sentenced for the murder of Jamie Lucas in Airdrie

22-year-old white man with short, brown hair

A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years and six months for the murder of a 33-year-old man in Airdrie.

On Sunday, 22 December, 2024, 33-year-old Jamie Lucas was on a night out at a club in Stirling Street Airdrie. He was attacked by Brandon McLachlan following an argument between the two men which had taken place earlier.

Jamie was taken to hospital but died a short time later and McLachlan was arrested and charged in connection with his death.

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said: “Jamie’s family has shown courage and resilience throughout this case. Nothing will bring Jamie back, but I hope seeing McLachlan imprisoned offers them some sort of solace knowing justice has been done.

“The level of violence in the commission of this crime was abhorrent and it is right that that McLachlan is held to account. The community is undoubtedly safer without him in it.”
