Man arrested and charged following Greenock attempted murder

A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Greenock.

The incident took place at a property on Lyle Street, around 3.15pm on Wednesday, 19 March, 2025.

Emergency services attended and a 46-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The 54-year-old man is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday, 21 March, 2025.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: “We’d like to thank the community for their assistance and understanding as enquiries into this incident have been carried out.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public. There will be a continued police presence in the area and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.”
