Former youth football coach jailed for raping and sexually assaulting young girl in Inverness

A former youth football coach has been jailed for five years after raping and sexually assaulting a young girl in the Inverness area.

Lee Murray committed the crimes in his car between January 2021 and October 2022.

The 53-year-old was found guilty following a trial at the High Court in Inverness and returned for sentencing on Tuesday, 10 September, 2024.

Detective Inspector Craig Thomson said: “Lee Murray was in a position of trust in the community when he targeted his young victim and subjected her to horrific sexual abuse.

“I hope this outcome sends a clear message to perpetrators who prey on and abuse children that we will thoroughly investigate all reports and ensure you face justice.
