How to report child abuse or neglect

If you are a victim or are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person, please report your concerns. Your information could help to protect a child at risk of harm.

If you suspect someone is in immediate danger, call 999. If it is not an emergency please get in touch by:

Visiting a Police Station in person

Contacting your local Social Work Department

Contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Visiting the Childline website or contacting Childline on 0800 11 11  for free, confidential 24-hour helpline that offers support for any kind of problem.

Contacting Parentline Scotland on 08000 28 22 33 or by visiting the Children 1st website. ParentLine is Scotland’s free helpline, email and web-chat service, for anyone caring for or concerned about a child - open until 9pm Monday to Friday. You can also email them on parentlinescotland@children1st.org.uk

Visiting the NSPCC website or contacting NSPCC 0808 800 5000 for free, confidential 24-hour helpline that offers support for any kind of problem.
