During this major incident, we are continuing to provide all the essential services you expect from us, while supporting the NHS and other organisations to keep everyone safe.
The response to coronavirus (COVID-19) is fast moving and we would urge everyone to do what they can to comply with the advice from government and the health service. We need your continued support to ensure that we are able to help those that need us most during this time of national crisis.
Please only call 999 if a crime is taking place or if a person is in immediate danger.
If you have a non-urgent question about how we are policing the restrictions implemented as part of the COVID-19 pandemic, then please see our Frequently Asked Questions or visit detailed guidance available on the Scottish Government website. Do not contact 101.
Police Scotland is experiencing a high volume of calls about COVID-19. These calls reduce response times for real policing matters. Before phoning 101 or 999 please ask yourself, is this a policing matter?
NHS Inform and the Scottish Government. have the latest COVID-19 guidance online. Misuse of 999 and 101 could cost lives. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe.

Responding to incidents
If you are contacting us about a policing matter we may ask if you, or anyone in your household, is self-isolating in order to manage the risk to officers and staff who may attend. Our officers may look different when you see them. Police officers are being provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) including FFP3 masks, gloves, boot covers, coveralls and googles and they will use this, as required based on a thorough risk assessment, when responding to incidents.
You can read a public version of our operational guidance for officers and staff here. Some details have been redacted for operational reasons.
It is possible there will be a rise in certain crime types as a result of the measures being introduced to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. You can find further information, help and support through the links below.
Below we've included links to useful information to help the public as we work with the government and partner agencies to tackle COVID-19.
