Ayrshire Division The Ayrshire Division serves around 368,290 people over 1,321 square miles, stretching from Skelmorlie in the North, Ballantrae in the South to the islands communities of Arran and Cumbrae. It is a popular destination for tourists, who are drawn to the quality golf courses, leisure centres and many sites of historical interest. The Division has three territorial command areas aligned with the respective local councils with each having a dedicated Area Commander who has the responsibility for all day-to-day policing functions in that area. Each area is served by a number of community policing teams. These teams are built around the needs of local people. They are responsible for responding to calls in the local area, as well as looking for long term solutions to key issues.
