Identity of man found unconscious in the sea confirmed

Police in Fife have now established the identity of a man who died after being found within the water in the East Sands area of St Andrews on Monday 2 July.

The 76-year-old man was recovered by the Coastguard and airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
