Woman charged following drugs recovery in Galashiels

Published 05 January 2018

A woman has been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act following a significant recovery of Class A drugs in Galashiels.

Officers conducted intelligence-led drug search within a property on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 January where a significant quantity of heroin was seized.

The 20-year-old woman was scheduled to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Friday 5 January).

Inspector Bryan Burns from Melrose Police Station said: “We are working hard to tackle drug crime and this is a significant quantity of this harmful substance that has been seized.

“Drug supply can have devastating consequences on our communities and we will continue to work with our partners to identify those involved in drug related crime and bring perpetrators before the courts.

“I would ask anyone who has concerns or information about drug supply or activity in their community to contact officers as soon as possible so we can progress such enquiries.”
