Arrests - Housebreakings - Glasgow

With reference to our previous appeals for information regarding a spate of housebreakings in the Glasgow area where high value jewellery and cash were allegedly stolen from Asian households, please note the following update:

As part of the ongoing investigation by Greater Glasgow CID, and as a result of an operation carried out within the Greater Glasgow and Bellshill areas on Thursday 11 January 2018, an 18 year old man, three women aged 17, 17 and 21, along with two male youths aged 14 and 15, have been arrested and are presently detained in police custody in connection with alleged theft by housebreaking.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

During the operation a car was deliberately driven at a male police officer in Gartcosh Walk, Bellshill. The officer was uninjured however enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the car. Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder.
