A man was on Friday (September 22) convicted at Edinburgh High Court for the murder of Alex Forbes in Kirkcaldy.

Adrian HyndAdrian Hynd, aged 51, was found guilty of stabbing Alex at a flat in Victoria Road on 2 January 2017.

Alex, who was aged 25 from Edinburgh, and two other men went back to Hynd's flat to continue drinking after meeting during a night out in the town.

The two other men left around 3.45am and at around 5am Hynd called emergency services claiming to have stabbed Alex in self-defence.

Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team said:

"Our enquiries established that Alex had been the victim of a frenzied attack and I have no doubt that Hynd, fuelled by alcohol, meant to cause Alex severe harm.

"We welcome this conviction and I hope this verdict helps Alex's family as they continue to come to terms with their loss."

Hynd is due to be sentenced at Glasgow High Court on October 30.
