A man has been convicted at the High Court in Glasgow today (Tuesday 13th June) of the murder of 75-year-old David Farish whose body was discovered at his home address in Broadlee Bank, Galashiels on Thursday 18th February 2016.
An investigation was launched by Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team and Richard Cassidy (70) subsequently charged with his murder.
Detective Inspector David Pinkney from the MIT said: “This was a particularly heinous murder of a frail, elderly man in his own home.
“Thanks to a thorough and robust investigation by the major investigation team we were able to quickly identify Richard Cassidy as the suspect.
“Information we received from the community was also crucial in bringing Cassidy to justice.
“This conviction will not reverse his cruel actions but I do hope it will bring some measure of resolution for Mr Farish’s family.”
