Enquiries continue into death of 3-week-old baby, Inverness

Police investigating the death of a 3-week-old baby in Inverness have continued to make enquiries over the weekend.

The baby, who police can now name as Mikayla Haining, died on Thursday 8 June, 2017 after being taken to Raigmore Hospital.

The death is being treated as unexplained and officers will remain in the local area as the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Brian Geddes said: "We have been conducting a number of enquiries in the local community as we try to establish the full circumstances surrounding  Mikayla's death. Specialist officers, including forensic officers have been involved in the investigation so far and will continue to be in the area over the next few days.

"I'd like to thank the community for their patience while these enquiries continue."
