The Scottish Government commissioned an Independent Inquiry into the abuse of children in care. The Inquiry commenced on 1 October 2015 and operates independently of Government and any other public bodies including Police Scotland. It is expected to last until October 2019.
The Inquiry will raise public awareness of the abuse of children in care within the 'living memory of any person'. It will provide an opportunity for public acknowledgement of the suffering of children affected by abuse and a forum for the validation of their experience and testimony.
The Inquiry are currently taking evidence from people who were abused. Further information on the work of the Inquiry and how to give evidence can be found here.
