The External Liaison Unit co-ordinates the Police Scotland response to queries from our partners, gathering information from across the organisation to provide an appropriate corporate response. It also specifically oversees the management of papers for Police Scotland’s input to Scottish Police Authority meetings. These functions ensure that a timeous and consistent service is provided to our partners, assisting them with their duties in ensuring an appropriate degree of scrutiny is applied to Police Scotland.

The External Liaison Unit for Police Scotland is part of Executive Support and works from Police Headquarters at Randolphfield. The unit manages correspondence and meetings with the Scottish Police Authority, the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland, and Audit Scotland under the supervision of Chief Inspector Chris Stones.
