Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson
ACC Johnson was appointed to Police Scotland in May 2016 and holds responsibility for elements of the Crime portfolio including Organised Crime, Counter Terrorism and Intelligence.
Prior to joining the police, Steve served in the Royal Navy serving in the Fleet Air Arm on both Anti-submarine and Search and Rescue Squadrons as a weapons and electrical technician.
On leaving the Navy, he joined West Midlands Police in 1995 and transferred to Cumbria in 1997.
He progressed through the ranks working in most uniform roles and qualifying as a firearms, public order and CBRN commander.
He also worked as a Detective Superintendent as head of Intelligence and in the design and implementation of the Public Protection Unit.
In April 2007 he was promoted to Detective Superintendent before and became Commander for West Cumbria in 2010.
In August 2013 Steve took over responsibility for Territorial Policing Command in Cumbria before being appointed as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable in Cumbria Constabulary in August 2014.
